The San Diego Council is a group of Doce Pares International members that are striving to propagate the DOCE PARES ORIGINAL "Multi-Style" SYSTEM of ESKRIMA in the San Diego area. This is the only group in San Diego authorized, certified, and endorsed to teach the "Multi-Style" system by the Doce Pares International Academy based in Banilad, Cebu City, Philippines under Grandmaster Dionisio "Diony" Cañete.
To this day we have received extensive training/ instruction from GM Dionisio "Diony" Cañete, GM Isidro "Edring" Casio, GM Andres "Cano Cañete, Masters Albert Sales, Ramon Rubia, Eva Cañete-Rubia, Percival "Val" Pableo, Kevin Angeles and Celestino "Tinni" Macachor (Eskrima De Campo JDC-IO). Many people are misled about the filipino martial arts believing an Eskrimador is defenseless without their weapon. Nothing could be further from the truth. One that truly understands the concept will realize that it is a complete, realistic, practical, progressive, and a highly effective art with or without a weapon.
Presently there are other organizations, in San Diego, that teach and promote different interpretations of the filipino martial culture. We are grateful for the energy and contributions they have put forth into promoting the art. There are even schools that some people confuse with ours, but we are specifically known as - DOCE PARES INTERNATIONAL, California Chapter - San Diego Council.
*** Eskrima is unique from all other martial arts because the teaching approach is geared towards developing coordination through a variety of weaponry training - primarily sticks, but also swords and daggers. Similar and related movements and principles are then applied to empty hand applications. Although this makes Eskrima a weapons-based art, effective, proven, deadly and practical empty hand techniques complete the system.
